Social media

I have had a lot of fun this semester in this class! We learned so much more about the Internet instead of just Facebook, Myspace or Twitter. It was a good experience to create a Blogger and to blog about different Web tools so that maybe other people that visit your blog can utilize these tools too! I've learned about social bookmarking, which is very cool because you can bookmark Web sites on a single Web site! And if you're computer crashes or anything you wont lose any of your bookmarks. Photobucket was something that we just recently explore, and it's complicating at first, but once you get the hang of it, it is very fun to use. You can upload pictures onto it and just do different things with the pictures to make them look more colorful, duller and even older than they actually are. Overall, I have enjoyed this class very much.

Kerpoof

Kerpoof is a fun Web site to where you can make your own movies with the characters and animations on the Kerpoof Website. There are many more fun things that you can do and explore on that Web site. Such as making cards, make a picture and even tell a story. All with drawings and animations that the Kerpoof Web site has given for you to utilize. The movie is my favorite tool because you get to control almost everything that the character does, the weather, and even the music that the Web site has set up for you!

Templates

Google Templates is part of Google Docs, you just click on Form Template on Create New. There are thousands to choose from and you can also search up one type of template if you want to narrow it down. I even came across some foreign ones. There are some very useful ones at the beginning. Such as Credit Card Calculator, Budget Tracker, Calendar, School Calendar, Shopping List, To-Do List and many, many more! If you ever need to choose a Template, Google is a good way to go.

Firefox Add-Ons

Firefox add-ons are very cool and it is endless with all the things you can choose from.  I downloaded some games mainly and they are pretty fun.  You could be stuck looking for add-ons for hours because there are so many.  I want to go on this website sometime and look for more of them!

Google Docs

Google Docs is a very cool tool and it is very useful.  You can save a word document from school, work, etc. onto Google Docs and then when you get home you can upload it and even invite someone to help you if you are working on it with a partner.  I might try this tool out on a research paper or even far into the future if i have to.

Favicon & TinyChat

Tinychat was something that we did in class today, you could log onto the Web site, and you dont even have to create an account.  Then all you have to do is type in your name, and you could join the chat that is going on.  We had ours as private so only the people in our class could join.  Favicon is a very cool Web site that you can go to, to create an icon that can go by the Web browser.  Instead of having the Web site logo on there, you can personalize your own! It is very cool to explore this website.

Domain

A Domain is a website name, and it's very cheap to make a new one.  It's around $10 a year for a new one, if you are buying an existing popular domain name, it could cost up to thousands of dollars.  A Domain name should be catchy and easy to remember so people will want to go to your website, and also you'll want to make it easy to remember, so then they can remember where to go! Such as Google or Facebook, those are common names and easy to remember.

Google Toolbar

The tool Google Toolbar is very useful, you can search up in the toolbar instead of having to leave the website that you are on.  You can also view your email, search news stories, and even look at your web history.  You can share Google Toolbar to your friends using popular websites such as Facebook, GMail, Hotmail, and even Blogger.  To install your own Google Toolbar, click here

Firefox Personas

The Firefox Personas are very cool because you can pick a picture out and put it onto the background of your Firefox browser.  It has many features like, cars, Nike, DC Shoes, Military and many, many more!! This Web site can get you hooked very fast because it's endless of how much stuff is on there.

Bebo

Bebo is a new social bookmarking Web site, but it's not very popular.  It is just another Facebook and MySpace.  But it is also another way to meet friends that you may not talk to anymore.  So I think everyone should give it a shot and see how they like it.  If they don't like it, then stick to Facebook!!

Delicious

Delicious is a cool Web site to use to keep your bookmarks on one page.  And if something happens to your computer (crashes, viruses, etc.) you can just go to your Delicious account, log in and everything will still be there!  You can go to any computer and log onto Delicious, instead of having all your bookmarks on your own computer.  This Web site is very cool!

iGoogle

The iGoogle page is very cool! You can customize your own google page, and even add some cool gadgets!! Some of the gadgets I added were the yo momma joke of the day, and the birthday countdown.  The iGoogle homepage has hundreds of backgrounds to choose from, which is pretty cool.  You could be stuck on iGoogle for hours because it's so much fun!

Histats

Histats is a very cool website because you can go onto it and pick out a counter, which is a gadget that tracks your visitors.  You can add this gadget to your blog, I added mine to the bottom of my blog page.  So every time I get on and scroll down, I can click on the counter and it will take me to the histats website.  Then from there, you can see where the people that visited your blog are from.

Blogger Gadgets

Yesterday we looked around at some of the Blogger Gadgets that you could use for your blog.  Some of them were very cool and useful, such as the birthday countdown, which counts down how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds until your birthday.  There are also ones that are just for fun, such as the fish one where you can pick up to 10 fish and change their colors and the color of their food.  And your friends or family could get on Blogger and go onto your blog and feed your fish!! Almost all of these gadgets are very cool to use!!!

Stats

Our class added a new gadget called stats.  This is very cool because you can see who and when people looked at your blog that day, that month, and how many looked at it of all time.  It is very detailed and you can see what internet browser they used.  Such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome and more.  You can see the name of who visited your blog and even the country from where they viewed it.  I even had 1 person from the Netherlands that viewed my blog! I thought that is pretty cool.

Word Cloud

Word Cloud is a very fun tool to create that you can use to make different collages in different shapes, colors, forms, etc.  You can use this website just for personal things, or you can use them for education/fun things as well.  You will be hooked on this website once you get on.

The Image chef is just the same as wordle, but with image chef you can customize more things.  But with wordle you have a bigger variety of fonts, colors, etc. to choose from.  But they are both very fun websites to create a word collage or customize football jerseys.

Symbaloo

Symbaloo is another social bookmarking website but I think this one is cooler than the other because it is better designed and you can put your favorite websites right there in front of you.  It is very easy to get onto the website that you want to, and like other social bookmarking websites, your bookmarks are very easy to find.

Diigo

Diigo is a very cool website because it is just like another social bookmarking website and you can keep track of even more bookmarks, maybe just in case you forget an account on another bookmarking website you can always come back to this one.

The Meez rooms are really cool, because aside from the regular background where you are by yourself, you can make a room to pretty much live in.  You can also add friends on meez and they can come to your "house".  While you are in your house you can chat with your friends and, also, I'm still experimenting, but I'm very sure that you can also go to your friends house's as well!

5 Reasons to use Delicious

These are the 5 reasons why I think you should use Delicious.

1. This website is a place where you can keep all your bookmarks on one page.
2. It is also good because if something happens to your computer, all of your bookmarks will still be there.
3. If you forget a website URL, you can go to Delicious and see if you have it on your Delicious account.
4. You can set it as your home page so right when you open Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc. All of your bookmarks will be there right in front of you.

5. You can use it from any computer, anywhere, so you can just log on where ever you are to show friends or family cool websites.

Baby Mail (E Trade)

Today our 3B Social Media class made a talking animation called Baby Mail. It is very unique because you could actually download a picture of yourself from Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc. and use it on the picture for Baby Mail. Or you could just use a baby that is already customized for you, such as the on from the E*Trade commercials. You can also type in a greeting, saying or whatever you want, you can type it in a text box and have it say it. you get to pick whether it's a boy or a girl voice. It is very fun to play around with.

Textanim

The Textanim website is really cool because you can get onto it and write something to say, such as welcome or hello. You can also pick a color and pattern that can go into the word and then you can post it onto your Wiki Page or Blogger or whatever other website that you want. It can be an fun and cool way to welcome someone!

Meez

We just finished a new Voki, and this one was a lot more detailed than the other one that we did last class period. This one you could pick from a lot of varieties of clothes, such as skating, rockstar, punk, emo etc. You can also customize the Voki to look similar to the way you look! You can also choose different things that your character is doing, like playing an instrument, riding a motorcycle, riding a skateboard. And there are a lot more backgrounds on this website than the other Voki website.
